ALP Candidate thanks supporters
Nikolee Ansell the ALP Candidate for Wide Bay would like to thank voters for their strong support in last Saturday's election. In comparison to the swing against Labor in Queensland, we polled well in Wide Bay. The results were brilliant for the short campaign against a long-standing incumbent.
I met hundreds people out campaigning throughout the electorate. I would like to make special thanks to the people who took the time to talk through issues. With each individual story, my understanding grew of the real effect of policies.
We had many first time volunteers on the booths who all said they had a lovely time and the other party's booth workers were very friendly. For the first time in years, we had a person go to Goomeri. Locals were so pleased he had 10 people make a point of coming to thank him personally.
Whilst we all wait for the final election outcome, it is great to see regional issues rise to prominence. The rural independents upon who, formation of government will depend are providing us with some of the best political discussion for years. This all bodes well for the bush and regional centres.
