Aussie artists set to perform for charity

A talented programme of artists are preparing to perform at the Gympie Muster to raise money for local communities and charities

The Toyota Muster is going to new heights in 2008, with a diversified programme of artists from all genres of music performing at the largest community organised event of its kind in Australia.

This national community event has raised over $11M for local communities and charities since its inception, as well as raising up to $100,000 annually through its Rural Aid Appeal.

"We are hoping that this year's participants will find the 2008 Muster to be the most enjoyable one, our aim has been to appeal to a wide variety of ages and musical tastes. Our focus remains on local communities and charities, as well as our annual Rural Aid Appeal", said Andrew Brook, Muster Chairman.

This year's entertainment line-up includes well known artists; such as, Pete Murray, Jimmy Barnes, Tripod, Kasey Chambers and Lee Kernaghan; including a wide array of other talented artists from across the country.

"The event is run by volunteers and all funding goes to the community and charities - and it can be felt in the atmosphere. There is a unity present at the Muster that really demonstrates the true Aussie spirit" said Mr Brook.

"The Muster is a celebration of Australia and the Australian community. The programme for the 2008 Muster has been created to tailor to a wide demographic and attract a variety of musical tastes", said Brian Sansom, Muster Coordinator.

The 13 on-site venues plus the main stage are surrounded by street theatre, roving bands, wine tasting, kids play areas and spreads out over 50-hectares to the camping areas surrounding the event.

The Toyota Gympie Muster runs at Amamoor Creek State Forest Park on August 26-31 in 2008.
