Australia Day Community Celebration

Thousands are expected to join in council’s Australia Day community party at Kings Beach Amphitheatre on Thursday 26 January to celebrate Aussie-style.

A great day of family fun is planned from 10am to 5pm with entertainment to suit all tastes and ages.

This free public event at Kings Beach will be bursting at the seams with live entertainment, workshops, activities and market stalls expressing the national diversity that has become an important part of the Australian national character.

Youngsters will enjoy ABC characters Banana in Pyjamas duo B1 and B2, as well as Shorn the Sheep.

The event will also support some of the Coast’s best local food and beverage producers from the Seasons of the Sun initiative.

Australia Day Celebrations are a great way to celebrate safely and responsibly and will be an alcohol and glass free event.

Executive Director Community Services, Coralie Nichols said this year’s Festive Season has a great range of activities and entertainment for all the community to enjoy.

“Council, through its Festive Season Strategy, supports activities and events that reflect the cultural values, diversity and lifestyle of our region’s communities,” Ms Nichols said.

Free parking will be organised at both the Transit Centre in Cooma Terrace and in Queen Street near the Caloundra High School. A free shuttle bus will run continually from 9.30am until 5.30pm with stops at the Transit Centre, Kings Beach Amphitheatre and Queen Street (in front of high school).

The Sunshine Coast Festive Season is proudly supported by Creative Concepts, Quest Community Newspapers (Journal. weekender), Southern Cross Ten, Sunshine FM 104.9, The Inkspot Printers, 92.7 Mix FM and Sea FM 91.9.
