Buttrose to speak at business expo
More than 70 Sunshine Coast Business owners and operators
gathered at 'The Hub' in Maroochydore this morning to celebrated
the launch of the 2012 Sunshine Coast Business Expo at an
exclusive breakfast event for sponsors and exhibitors, which saw
the announcement of one the expo's keynote speakers.
Businesswomen, esteemed media editor and best-selling author Ita
Buttrose is the first keynote to be announced in what will be a
star-studded speaker line-up at the expo on Thursday 10 and
Friday 11 May, 2012.
Maroochydore chamber of Commerce President Ross Hepworth said it
was exciting to have Ms Buttrose come on board as a keynote
speaker at the expo , and he looked forward to announcing a
number of other high-calibre presenters in the coming
months.
"Ita Buttrose is an inspiring businesswoman who has played a
significant part in shaping the role of women in the business
community." Mr Hepworth said.
"Her impressive career has seen Ms Buttrose become the first
women to edit a major metropolitan newspaper in Australia and be
appointed to the board of a number of leading Australian
companies."
Ms Buttrose was also awarded the centenary Medal in 2003 in
recognition of her service to Australian society in business
leadership and is an Advisory Board Member for the Australian
Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AWCCI).
Mr Hempworth said Ms Buttrose's presentation at the expo would
provide insight into her role with the AWCCI, and was a must-see
for all business owners and operators on the Sunshine
Coast.
'With more than 700,000 women running their own small businrsses
in Australia, the contribution women make to the economy and to
their local communities is enormous," Mr Hempworth Said.
"Ms Buttrose is passionate about giving more businesswomen a
strong voice and helping them to succeed in the business realm
alongside their male counterparts."
Mr Hepworth said the expo would be held in May 2012 and aimed to
inspire local businesses and equip owners and operators with the
tools and techniques necessary to help their businesses
prosper.
"The last few years have proved challenging for Sunshine Coast
Businesses and the expo presents an opportunity for local
business owners and operators to learn from experts in the
industry and share their own knowledge and key learnings with
others." Mr Hepworth said.
"As a community, we're more likely to succeed if we strengthen
our knowledge base and focus on building solid relationships with
other industry professionals."
The 2012 expo will incorporate a compreuensive program of keynote
presentations, workshops, seminars, prospective exhibitors are
encouraged to apply early.
