Caloundra cleans up at Tidy Towns 2011
Caloundra has been named Keep Australia Beautiful Queensland’s
Tidiest Town for 2011.
The announcement was at made at the Keep Australia Beautiful
(KAB) Tidy Towns gala awards ceremony on the Gold Coast last
night (Monday October 3).
Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd (SCDL) CEO, Mr Steve Cooper was
delighted with the award news.
“Caloundra is the southern gateway for welcoming visitors to the
Sunshine Coast and this award deservedly reflects the vibrancy
and community spirit of the Caloundra region as a must-visit
destination.
“Caloundra is the perfect clean and safe holiday destination that
visitors are seeking,” said Mr Cooper.
President of Caloundra Chamber and Commerce, Alan Porter said “As
major supporters of the awards submission, it is a terrific
result to have out-performed 70 other entrants to take out this
prestigious award.”
“Caloundra will now be vying for Australia’s Tidiest Town award
early in 2012,” added Mr Porter.
The award was presented by Her Excellency, The Governor of
Queensland, Ms Penelope Wensley, AC, who is the Patron of Keep
Australia Beautiful Queensland.
Keep Australia Beautiful Queensland CEO, Mr Rick Burnett said
“Caloundra has been outstanding in all categories, ticking all
the right boxes in litter prevention, energy and waste reduction
and environmental protection.” Caloundra was also the Queensland
winner in 2008.
