Council plans to protect Coast's unique culture
9 February 2010 Council plans to protect Coast's unique culture
Sunshine Coast Council is seeking the community's views about what gives the Coast its unique culture and lifestyle -- and will use this feedback to plan for a creative future.
Council's Community Policy and Programs portfolio holder Jenny McKay will announce the launch of a new discussion paper Creative Communities Sunshine Coast outside the Nambour council chambers at 9am on Thursday 11 February.
This announcement will affect all those who live and holiday on the Sunshine Coast. It will help council plan for the development and delivery of cultural planning, programs, services and facilities across the region over the next five years (2010-2015).
"From music festivals to markets, the Coast is loved for its laid-back creative communities and council wants to preserve and protect what's good about living on the Coast," Cr McKay said.
"An extensive community engagement program will be held over the coming months to delve into the cultural experiences that people treasure about our region's lifestyle."
