17 March 2010 Cross-country series off and running
Runners of all ages and abilities are invited to stride out in this year's Suncoast Home Loans Cross Country Series.
The six-race series organised by the University of the Sunshine Coast Athletics Club and Maroochy Athletics Club is held at various venues on the Sunshine Coast starting on April 4 at Elizabeth Daniels Park, Buderim.
Categories include under 8 (500m), under 10 (1klm), under 12 (2klm), under 14 (3klm), under 16 (3klm), under 18 (6klm). Open and 40 and over (3klm, 6klm, 12klm), over 55 (3klm and 6klm).
The series schedule is: Race 2 (April 11, Mooloolah), race 3 (May 2, Corbould Park), race 4 (May 16, Ben Bennett Park), race 5 (May 30, Mooloolah), race 6 (June 13, Elizabeth Daniels Park). Race sections start from 8am, and entries can be made on the day. Each race carries points towards trophies at the end of the series.
University club president Bryce Phillips said the cross country series was a great way for serious runners to enjoy a high standard of competition and for fun runners to get out and enjoy some scenic courses while keeping fit and healthy.
