Deadline extended for Buderim park consultation
Room to kick a footie, somewhere for a picnic or to listen to outdoor music---these were all ideas submitted by Buderim residents who are helping plan for the new Buderim district park.
Residents who haven't yet had a say can still do---council has extended the deadline for submission to 17 September.
Submissions can be made via a questionnaire, available on council's website www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au, Buderim Library and the Old Post Office, Buderim.
Division 6 Councillor Christian Dickson said that extension would give everyone time to really study the area.
"We want residents to visit the area and think about the kind of park they'd like to see there and the elements they'd like included," Cr Dickson said.
"People seem particularly keen to preserve the views---it might be obvious, but that's what community engagement is all about, finding out exactly what people want rather than just guessing.
"With this information, we can be fairly confident that elements such as benches and viewing platforms would be appreciated by the community."
Division 7 Councillor Ted Hungerford said that the feedback will guide the draft design.
"The more submissions we have, the closer that draft plan will be to the community's vision for the park."
