Downpour activates small-scale disaster co-ordination
Local Disaster Co-ordinator, Alan Rogers has advised that as a
response to the heavy rainfall today in Caloundra and other parts
of the Coast, Sunshine Coast Council is setting up a
small-scale Co-ordination Centre.
Rainfall of 90mls at Caloundra and Golden Beach Area has affected
approximately 20 roads in the area,” Mr Rogers said.
“Water levels are fluctuating and with a forecast of heavy
rainfall throughout the afternoon motorists are asked to consider
the need for travel.
“Parents picking children up from school are particularly
reminded to proceed with caution.
“Motorists are reminded when entering flooded areas to avoid
flooded roads. Do not cross a flooded road.
If it is flooded – forget it.

will be updated regularly with information about road
closures.
Listen to local radio for regular updates about conditions and
log on to the Bureau of Meteorology website for weather
warnings.
