FISH ALREADY CALLING TIWI PEARL HOME
Fish are already being attracted to the Tiwi Pearl, the former fishing vessel which is the new centrepiece of the Harry Atkinson Artificial Reef.
Climate Change and Sustainability Minister Kate Jones said she was delighted to confirm that officers had already done testing and shown fish were being attracted to the Tiwi Pearl.
"While sounding the vessel on Monday morning (15 March), sonar returns indicated there were already fish schooling above and around the Tiwi Pearl," Ms Jones said.
Ms Jones lampooned Member for Cleveland Mark Robinson for his continued attacks on the extension to the Harry Atkinson reef.
"We all know that the LNP have always opposed the Government's action to protect Moreton Bay. This week though they have sunk to new lows. concocting wild stories about the successful sinking of the Tiwi Pearl," she said.
"Their behaviour clearly demonstrates that their position has not changed and the LNP do not want to see sustainable fishing in Moreton Bay.
"Scuttling the Tiwi Pearl at the Harry Atkinson Reef was an election commitment. We delivered this successfully on Friday."
Maritime Safety Queensland has confirmed that the final coordinates for the Tiwi Pearl have been released. They are: 27 24.532'S and 153 18.304'E.
