Funding boost for Sunshine Coast community groups
The Bligh Government today announced grant funding of over $114,000 to community groups in the Sunshine Coast region.
The Minister responsible for gaming regulation, Peter Lawlor MP, today announced the latest round of Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund recipients, saying the funds provided a well deserved boost for local community organisations.
"Community groups work hard year-round providing important services to people in the region and this funding will be a welcome and well-deserved boost to their efforts," Mr Lawlor said.
"The money will go towards equipment and services identified by these groups as a priority for their region."
"These groups go out of their way every day to make a difference within their local area, and these grants are just one way of acknowledging their tireless efforts."
The Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund uses a percentage of state revenue raised from gaming activities to offer grants of up to $1 50,000 to assist community organisations in the South East Queensland area.
Minister Lawlor said the Government was committed in its support of local community groups throughout the state.
"That's why, since the fund's inception, over 3,300 applications have been funded, totalling more than $86 million."
"I encourage more groups to apply online in the next funding round which closes on 30 November 2010."
