Gay lobby confirms funding from Campbell Newman

State Leader of Katter’s Australian Party, Aidan McLindon, said that further questions were raised about Campbell Newman, following confirmation that he had provided funds to the organisation that ran the Rip n Roll condom advertisement.

Mr Martin, Director of the Queensland Association for Healthy Communities (QAHC), has confirmed Campbell Newman’s Brisbane City Council administration provided funding to the QAHC for a number of programs.

“I now call on Campbell Newman to detail every grant he provided to the QAHC and to outline its purpose,” said Mr McLindon. “Mr Martin’s confirmation that Campbell Newman expended ratepayers’ funds for this organisation will be a surprise and a disappointment to most Queenslanders.”

“If he was prepared to waste funds as Lord Mayor then Queenslanders should expect him to do no differently as Premier.” “It is bad enough that Queensland has endured years of Labor waste and mismanagement and now it is clear that nothing will change under the LNP.”

“Queenslanders are not interested in just changing government, they are after good government and that is what Katter’s Australian Party will provide.”

Comments / Have your say

  1. Talk about not telling the whole truth in an article. It hasn't listed the actual projects that were funded. If you had put the whole media release from Mr Martin into this article then you would see that the projects funded were focusing on support to LGBT seniors, recording the history of LGBT Brisbane and helping make adaptations to their premises to make it more environmentally friendly. So the funds were not wasted as Mr McLindon states. The funds were obtained legitimately through the grants process and Healthy Communities should not be used as a political football to gain votes from the christian lobby. Would he be this vocal if it was someone like Red Cross or Lifeline that had received legitimate funding via the grants process? I doubt it very much!
