Getting the Sunshine Coast's jobs back on track - LNP's economic blueprint

SMALL Businesses seeking to grow Sunshine Coast jobs have received a boost with the LNP’s economic blueprint released today, focussing on cutting payroll tax, red tape and regulation.

Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said it was time for government to get off the back of small businesses who were the real job creators.

Announced by LNP Leader Campbell Newman today, the blueprint commits an LNP Government to cut payroll tax by raising the exemption threshold from $1 million to $1.6 million over six years.

“Many small businesses have said that the current payroll tax threshold was a disincentive to growth. This new policy will help local small businesses who want to be able to grow,” Ms Simpson said.

“The LNP’s payroll tax cut will help small businesses create over 4000 new jobs for Queenslanders and mean less red tape for businesses.

“We are  committed to reducing unemployment in Queensland to 4 per cent in six years. This policy helps that.”

Other announcements today include:

Restore good economic management through Fiscal Principles to control spending, return the budget to surplus by 2014-15, and pay down Labor’s $85 billion debt.

The establishment of a Commission of Audit within the first 100 days to chart a path back to the AAA credit rating lost under Labor.

Ms Simpson said that under Labor, Queensland now had the highest unemployment rate on mainland Australia.

She said: The LNP will grow a strong four pillar economy and get government red tape off the back of small business to ensure jobs now and into the future for local residents.

“It’s time for a change. It’s time to get Queensland back on track.”
