Greens Candidate in Noosa thanks voters
Jim McDonald, the Greens candidate for Wide Bay in Noosa thanked the voters for the increased support for the Greens in the Noosa area.
He said that the Greens had polled over 16 percent in the old Noosa Shire.
"We had 6 booths south of Gympie that returned more than 20 percent. The northern end of the electorate was considerably tougher for us although we had a big swing in two of the northern booths in Maryborough. We put that down to our support for the Aldershot community during the campaign. They are fighting a coalmine on their doorstep.
"I want to thank the volunteers who letter-boxed this end of the electorate and staffed the booths. The people who worked for the campaign contributed to this result.
"I especially want to thank the campaign committee, in particular, my campaign director, Bob Borsellino, without whom we could never have done so well.
"The overall results for the Greens on the Sunshine Coast have been very encouraging and we will continue to see the Greens grow in strength in the region."
