Health fraud suspect promotions need investigation
State Leader of Katter’s Australian Party, Aidan McLindon, today
called for an investigation into the rapid promotion of Joel
Barlow, the man at the centre of the $16 million Queensland
Health fraud.
Mr Barlow was promoted rapidly inside Queensland Health and now
other Queensland Health public servants have been asked to reveal
any gifts received from Mr Barlow.
“There needs to be a thorough and transparent investigation into
how and why Mr Barlow was promoted so rapidly, especially in
light of the fact that Queensland Health employees have now been
asked to reveal details of any gifts received,” said Mr
McLindon.
“In the interests of accountability and to ensure that the good
name of Queensland Health employees is not brought into
disrepute, it is paramount that this investigation take place
immediately.”
“Queenslanders deserve to know whether Mr Barlow used any funds
from his alleged fraud to speed his promotions.”
“Clearly, the procedures used by Queensland Health to monitor
funding grants have been inadequate.”
