HELP us to take a trip down market memory lane
With the 30th anniversary of Eumundi Markets fast approaching, the Eumundi Historical Association and the Discover Eumundi Heritage & Visitor Centre are seeking your help.
Manager of Discover Eumundi Wendy Birrell is coordinating a display and exhibition on the history of the now world-famous markets, and is on a search for images, memorabilia and stories.
"At this stage we don't have many images from 1979 and into the early 80s, so we're calling on public support," says Wendy.
"We would love to hear from former stallholders or their families, who might have memorabilia or special memories from the early days of Eumundi Markets. Photos would be fantastic, as would posters and promotional material, as well as stories and memories from the early market days.
"And we want to hear from members of the public and market visitors as well -- those who recall visits to the markets when they were a much smaller entity than they are today.
Perhaps you can share reflections about a unique stallholder you remember, the food, the sculptures, the fashion or some of the weird and wonderful craft items from years ago," she says.
The official celebrations for Eumundi Markets' 30th birthday will take place on Saturday 21 March, with Wendy and the museum team working on the display over the weeks ahead.
If you can help, please contact Wendy at Discover Eumundi on 5442 8762.
