July screening brings a moving true story
Monday June 29, 2009 July screening brings a moving true story
The July Movies and More screening will be held on Sunday July 12, beginning with an open forum to discuss the program at 3pm, followed by the screening of Changeling at 4pm.
Directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Angelina Jolie, Changeling (MA), is inspired by actual events that occurred in 1920s Los Angeles. A single working mother returns home to find her son has disappeared. A boy is returned to her months later by the police, but she is shocked and disheartened when she realises that the boy isn't her son. Joined by a crusading pastor (John Malkovich), Jolie battles for justice against the corrupt LAPD while she continues to search for her child. Eventually her fight against the cops lands her in a mental hospital, where she is surrounded by others with a similar plight. Through her perseverance, she eventually learns of her son's fate and exposes the corruption and incompetence of the LAPD.
The open forum, beginning at 3pm, invites community and Movies and More members to discuss the types of movies they would like to view and provide some input on how the program is run.
The July Movies and More screening is on at The Events Centre on Sunday July 12 at 4pm. The open forum begins at 3pm. Tickets can be purchased by calling (07) 5491 4240 or directly from the Box Office. Ticket prices are $8.00 for members and $14.00 for non members.
