Katter's Australian Party & Queensland Party merger creates new political force
Federal Member for Kennedy, Bob Katter, and Queensland State
Member for Beaudesert, Aidan McLindon, have today announced that
the merger of the Katter’s Australian Party and The Queensland
Party will create a strong political force for the next
Queensland state election, due in March next year.
“The merger of these two parties will provide an obvious choice
for Queenslanders who want to see good government and seats will
be won in Brisbane at the next Queensland state election,” said
Mr Katter.
“Today is the end of economic rationalism in this country and the
start of economic nationalism because this party will stand up
for Australian businesses. It is only last week that the final
manufacturer of electric motors in Australia shut its doors and
we are going to put policies in place to bring these industries
back and provide jobs for the future.”
Mr McLindon, who becomes the Queensland Parliamentary Leader of
The Australian Party, stated that he was proud to work alongside
Mr Katter and that the overwhelming majority of members,
candidates and the State Executive of The Queensland Party
supported the merger because both parties held identical
values.
“This is an historic day and this party has been formed to put
the interests of Queenslanders first,” said Mr McLindon.
“In the lead up to the next state election this party will offer
a simple choice for Queenslanders. A vote for Katter’s Australian
Party is a vote to prevent the privatisation of the power
industry and further increases in the family electricity bill. No
other party can promise this because they are
pro-privatisation.”
