LNP Leader slammed for double standards over condom ad
State Leader of Katter’s Australian Party, Aidan McLindon, has
slammed LNP Leader Campbell Newman’s hypocrisy for his support of
the ‘Rip n Roll’ condom advertisements which were displayed in
Queensland bus stops.
While Mr Newman was Lord Mayor, the Brisbane City Council
provided grants of $100,000 to the organisation which ran the
advertisement promoting gay sex which were controversially placed
in children’s bus shelters.
“This ad was the most complained about ad in 2011 and that is
because Queensland parents were extremely unhappy that their
children were subjected to this offensive advertising,” said Mr
McLindon.
“It is very disappointing that LNP Leader Campbell Newman chose
to back this ad rather than supporting Queensland
families.”
“It is wrong that he demanded concerned Queensland families
tolerate this advertising which was directed at their children in
bus stops.”
“And it is no surprise that Mr Newman urged them to tolerate this
ad because his administration funded this organisation.”
“When Mr Newman waltzes into the Australian Christian Lobby
tonight, he should explain why he funded this organisation and
why, as leader of the supposedly socially conservative LNP, he
supports gay marriage.”
