LNP missing in action in health policy debate

Claims by LNP health spokesman Mark McArdle there is a difference of opinion between the Premier, Health Minister or Treasurer on National Health Reform could not be further from the truth.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Health Paul Lucas said this was yet another shonky claim from Mr McArdle who has so far contributed nothing to the health policy debate.

"We have always made our view clear the Rudd Government's plan is an exciting proposal that will deliver more funding for Queensland and, what's more, a Commonwealth commitment to funding growth in a growth state.

"But we have also made it clear that we are committed to working with the Rudd Government to get the detail right to get the best outcomes for Queenslanders.

"This is in contrast to Mr McArdle who told State Parliament last week the LNP needed to see the detail but would oppose the plan anyway.

"Whilst the LNP is full of splits over behaviour and discipline, I'll conced e they are not split on health policy - because they don't have any," Mr Lucas said.

"In fact so embarrassing is their lack of policy that last sitting week they used one hour of parliamentary debate to ask for Cabinet submissions 18 to 15 years old, and before they were in Government.

Mr Lucas said the LNP should concentrate on getting their own house in order.

"Unlike the LNP, the Bligh Government has strong policy.

"Unlike the LNP, the Bligh Government is united.

"And unlike the LNP, our focus is on getting the best outcome for Queenslanders."
