Local Market helps families stretch their dollar further
Local market helps families stretch their dollar further
The locally owned Sunny Coast Baby and Kids Market was
successfully launched in January 2011 at the Nambour PCYC. With
over 50 stalls selling pre loved, new and beautiful handmade baby
& kid’s items. Over the past 12 months the market has
continued to grow and now attracts in excess of 500 people. The
Sunny Coast Baby and Kids Market has just confirmed six dates for
2012 in Nambour as well as six at the second venue, Caloundra
Indoor Stadium. The next market is on Saturday November 26th from
8am-12pm. Entry is $2, kids are free.
Owners Julia Meaker and Dani Anspach started the market because
with five children under three years old between them they
understand how hard it can be to make the dollar stretch further.
“We could not find anywhere that you could buy quality pre loved
items as well as giving work at home mums and opportunity to sell
their handmade items” Julia Meaker said. Several factors
including the increasing costs of everyday bills has put the
squeeze on household budgets. Families are now forced to shop
smarter. The current economic situation has required stay at home
parents to come up with creative ways to make ends meet.
There has been a phenomenal increase in the
number of work from home parents, using their talents to create
amazing handmade items.
The Sunny Coast Baby and Kids Market aims to fill this gap in the
market by showcasing products from talented local parents and
also providing affordable pre loved items. The benefits of this
concept is twofold, families can make some extra cash by selling
unwanted baby goods and shoppers benefit by getting items such as
clothes, bedding, cots, toys etc. at a fraction of retail cost.
The Sunny Coast Baby and Kids Market also gives work at home
parents the chance to sell their handmade items without many of
the prohibitive costs of setting up a business.
The November market includes $5 professional Christmas photos by
Kathy Hughes Photography, jumping castle, free 5 minute mummy
massages, sausage sizzle, kids hairdresser, kids craft
corner and so much more.
