New name revealed for D'Aguilar Highway bridge

Main Roads Minister Craig Wallace today revealed a new name for Wallaby Creek No. 2 Crossing Bridge on the D'Aguilar Highway, as part of the Queensland's 150th birthday celebrations.

Mr Wallace said the bridge name was decided by a panel of community representatives from nominations from the public.

"I am honoured to have an opportunity to recognise the people and history that make up the great state of Queensland," he said.

"It is important to recognise those who helped shape the development of the community and the new name reflects a local resident who has made significant contributions.

"Wallaby Creek No. 2 Crossing Bridge on the D'Aguilar Highway will now be named Cec Krisanski Bridge."

Mr Wallace said naming the bridge after Cec Krisanski was a worthy tribute to, his dedication and commitment to the local Toogoolawah Ambulance Service.

"Cec lived the majority of his life in and around Esk/Toogoolawah," he said.

"In 1946, Cec began his dedicated service to the community, in the then Queensland Ambulance Transport Brigade in Toogoolawah.

"Cec retired in 1990, after 44 years of devoted service, in which the last 15 years he was the Superintendent of the Toogoolawah Station."

Mr Wallace said Cec was a tireless worker and was involved with many local committees over the years.

"One of his main interests was the local tennis association where he held the position of Treasurer for more than 34 years," he said.

"His dedication to the local tennis club saw him honoured with lifetime membership and the position of Club Patron."

Mr Wallace said this year marked the 150th anniversary of Queensland's separation from New South Wales as a colony, and celebrations would express the vision 'reflect our past, imagine our future'.

"The state's 150th birthday is an important milestone for all Queenslanders and we want to involve the community in the celebrations as much as possible," he said.

"The Q150 bridge naming festivities highlight the integral role that roads and bridges play in building the state's prosperity and connecting Queenslanders."
