Patience a prerequisite en route to uni
Leave a little earlier and please be patient. That’s the first
assignment for Sunshine Coast University goers travelling to
Orientation Week that starts on 13 February. Division 6
Councillor Christian Dickson said ongoing upgrades to the Sippy
Downs Drive project would restrict traffic flow around the main
entrance to the university campus.
“When this project is complete the new roundabout and
intersection will really improve traffic flow for commuters
travelling to and from Sunshine Coast University and the three
nearby schools,” he said. “In the meantime though a little extra
patience will be needed when travelling in this area that caters
for approximately 2,100 vehicles per hour during peak
periods.”
Cr Dickson said traffic control measures would be in place and
lane closures would be avoided during the peak hours. “The best
plan of attack for those travelling to school or the University
is to allow plenty of time, take the bus or car pool where
possible,” he said.
“Extra care should be taken around the work site and please obey
the speed limits and follow the directions of traffic
controllers.” The Sippy Downs Drive project is due for completion
in September (weather permitting).
