Peter Slipper Fights To Save 7km Stretch Of Bruce Highway Businesses

As part of his 12 point plan for the Fisher Electorate, Peter Slipper is leading the charge to save businesses along a 7km stretch of the Bruce Highway and address growing concerns with regards to the Main Roads draft plan of closures to the existing Bruce Highway’s on/off ramps.

For several months, Mr Slipper has been in consultation with Federal Government to ensure the concerns of existing Sunshine Coast businesses and residents are being considered.

“I have always supported the upgrade of the Bruce Highway however not at the detriment to existing businesses, tourist attractions and local residents” said Mr Slipper. “This is why I am putting together a community forum to discuss the current draft plan as well as encouraging Sunshine Coast residents to have their say by contacting Transport and Main Roads Department directly.”

The draft plan includes a 7km stretch of highway in which this current proposal closes six existing on/off ramps, significantly impacting hundreds of residents and businesses.

Mr Slipper has organised a community forum on Sunday 29 January at 6pm in the Aussie World Function Centre. Details of this can be found on his website: www.peterslippermp.com.au .

Well done Peter. It's great to see someone on the Coast doing something about this stupid plan of Main Roads. Who in their right mind would think its ok to cut those poor businesses off from their customers and livelihoods. It has never made sense to me how they've wasted tax payers money with this crappy recommendation to do away with the ramps in the first place. Go get em! Well done!
