Premier's statement to Floods Commission of Inquiry
Premier Anna Bligh said today she would submit a written
statement to the Floods of Commission of Inquiry following a
request received late yesterday afternoon.
The commission will hold additional hearings from today into
aspects of the operation of Wivenhoe Dam during the January 2011
flood event.
Ms Bligh said her statement would be submitted by Monday 6
February as requested by Commissioner and would be
comprehensive.
"I have said from the outset that all Queenslanders deserve to
know the truth," Ms Bligh said.
"That's why I established this independent commission in January
2011 to fully examine all aspects of management and response to
the floods across the state.
"I expect everyone who has been asked to appear before or assist
with the Inquiry to cooperate fully as I will."
Ms Bligh said she would also submit a copy of her diary and
relevant documents relating to the meetings and briefings she
attended at the time of the January flood event.
