Put your home on a diet---a Low Carbon Diet!

10 March 2010 Put your home on a diet---a Low Carbon Diet!

Sunshine Coast Council and the state government have set all households a challenge during March---to trim down and lose up to two tonnes in greenhouse gas emissions in 30 days.

Council's Environment Portfolio councillor Keryn Jones invites Sunshine Coast residents to join in a range of activities throughout March to help reduce their carbon footprint.

"Climate change presents a major threat to the Sunshine Coast community but together, if we make small changes to our daily lives then we are one step closer to tackling climate change and reducing its impact on our lifestyle," Cr Jones said.

"The council activities held during March to promote a 'Low Carbon Diet' all aim to help residents reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, and in turn reduce the Coast's collective emissions.

"Residents can sign up to Living Smart Homes, get a Climate Smart Homes audit, attend a cooking lesson or a grow your own veggies workshop.

"There are plenty of opportunities to learn about how the small changes to our lifestyle can save money and help to reduce the effect of climate change on the Sunshine Coast."

"And with this year being the 'International Year of Biodiversity' it's the perfect time for people to make the change!"
