RADIO SHOWS RE-LIVED
This weekend the "back to radio days" show at The Indee at Eumundi is a double package. To open the program ABC Coast FM's breakfast presenter John Stokes comperes Pick-a-Box. This is a reinvention of the legendary Bob Dyer quiz show which started on radio in 1948 and which, after nearly a decade, transferred to tv in 1957, running through till 1971.
Contestants will be drawn from the audience to vie for "the money or the box" and there are some terrific prizes on offer. Pick-a-Box was the longest running, top rating, radio quiz show ever to hit the air waves.
The second half of the program is a re-creation of the Lux Radio Theatre, with an adaptation of Dasheill Hammett's The Maltese Falcon. It features a mix of radio and theatre personalities, including (from theatre) Eddie Ellis, Rita Walker, Luke Lanham and Carine Bail and (from radio) ABC Coast FM breakfast presenter, John Stokes, the ABC's Bob Stuart and 4GY's Nathan Evans.
Shows at 7.30 this Friday and Saturday (22nd & 23rd) and 2 o'clock Sunday 24th. The Independent Theatre at Eumundi. Tickets $20, concessions and Sunday $18. Book 5472 8200
