Reckless Newman Spends Another Half a Billion: "Don't you worry about that"

Campbell Newman's reckless spend-a-thon of election promises has chalked up another half a billion dollars worth of unfunded commitments today, Treasurer Andrew Fraser said today.

"While are out today talking about saving money for future investment in our education system, Campbell Newman has continued his snake-oil campaign of promises - this time a $580 million unfunded promise on payroll tax," Mr Fraser said.

"This latest commitment adds to his $5billion tick of unfunded election promises - now topping more than $5.5 billion.

"Mr Newman is promising to bring the budget back to surplus but has only announced he is cutting revenues - in stamp duty, in registration and now in payroll tax.

"When asked about how he would pay for his promises, Mr Newman's reply was a modern day version of 'Don't you worry about that'."

"Beware the Commission of Audit - the LNP stalking horse for massive cuts to the jobs in public service, cuts to public services, outsourcing and contracting out.

"This is the old two-card trick from Mr Newman - who today refused to rule out deep cuts to the jobs of people who support frontline services.

"Whether it's dealing with the state's finances or his failure to be transparent about his own financial dealings, Campbell Newman simply can't come clean with the people of Queensland."
