Seven straight months of job creation in Queensland

Treasurer Andrew Fraser said jobs have been created for the seventh straight month in Queensland.

Following the release of the ABS Labour Force Figures for February, Mr Fraser said 24,600 jobs had been created since July.

"Seven months straight of job creation is a great result for Queensland," Mr Fraser said.

"Trend unemployment also went down to 5.7%, the lowest level since last July.

"There was 3,700 jobs created in February, with Queensland having the second highest share of people looking for work in the country, and a booming population.

"This is evidence of the Bligh Labor Government's economic plan in action."

Mr Fraser said a bulk of the new jobs in February were full-time.

"Of the 3,700 new jobs in February, 3,300 of those were full-time jobs."

Mr Fraser said the Bligh Government's election commitment to create 100,000 new jobs this term remains on track.

"The target has decreased to 88,200. We know we still have a long way to go, but we're moving in the right direction."

Mr Fraser said while the Bligh Government was implementing its jobs plan, the Opposition maintained its jobs target of zero.

"The Opposition haven't put forward one plan to create jobs.

"The Bligh Government will continue to work to see jobs growth in Queensland."
