Sewer Upgrade a Coup for Caloundra
Sunshine Coast Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer believes
Unitywater’s $1.47million upgrade to the Kings Beach sewer
network will be a major positive for Caloundra. Cr Dwyer said the
soon-to-commence project would provide essential infrastructure
for the growing local community.
“This upgraded sewer network will be able to cater for predicted
population growth in Caloundra and with that an increased demand
on the sewerage network,” he said. “It’ll also lessen the impact
of significant wet weather on the local sewerage network by
reducing the amount of rainwater and groundwater that enters the
network.
“So the finished product will be a safer and more reliable
sewerage service that is more economically and environmentally
sustainable.” The project includes the installation of a 550
metre gravity sewer along Ormond Terrace and Edmund Street that
will connect to the existing sewer near the corner of Moreton
Parade and Saltair Street.
Construction of the project will commence during February and
will take approximately five months to complete, weather
permitting. Traffic and pedestrian management plans will be in
place while work is in progress.
