“S.W.A.M. At the Noosa Marina”Art Exhibition
The most anticipated Art event of the year, the “S.W.A.M. At the
Noosa Marina” opened last Friday 20th April having attracted an
unprecedented crowd to the Noosa Marina.
Guest speaker Ann Rickard was mobbed by Noosa art lovers starving
for art works normally only seen in capital cities.
The retrospective of artworks entered into the Sulman, Wynne,
Archibald and Moran Prizes (with some Portia Geach Portrait Prize
entries) was such a success that there is strong demand for a
similar event next year.
All entries were from Sunshine and Cooloola Coast artists and
some of the entries dated back to at least 2000. The
artists enjoyed the opportunity to see their works being aired
out and to network with others.
Aspiring artists had the opportunity to meet selected and
experienced artists who were eager to motivate and encourage
entries for next year. It was an excellent night.
The Noosa Marina has become an art precinct this week with two
art exhibitions opening within one hour of each other. The
Friends of the Regional Gallery’s “Taste of Art” Exhibition also
attracted a very good crowd and there are excellent presentations
throughout the week.
