The biggest ever youth survey on the Coast

2 March 2010 The biggest ever youth survey on the Coast

A survey of the young people on the Sunshine Coast is now underway, organised by the Speak Up Engage Youth Team and Sunshine Coast Council.

The survey can be found online at www.speak-up-engage.com between Monday 1 March and Monday 31 May.

If you are aged between 11 and 25 you can have your say by taking a short time to answer questions about yourself and the Sunny Coast, with a chance of winning one of several great prizes.

Alternatively, you can talk to the Speak Up Engage youth team who will visit schools and communities across the region in the next three months to survey young people.

Community Engagement and Governance Portfolio holder, Cr Christian Dickson said this is young people's chance to be heard, have their say, voice their opinion, engage in their future and make a stand for their generation.

"These opinions will be presented to council, and will play a significant role in planning council's actions for the next ten years," Cr Dickson said.

"This survey aims to discover the opinions, wants and needs of thousands of young people across the coast.

"Prizes will include an 82cm flat screen HD TV, a laptop, 4 iPod touch devices, and dozens of vouchers (movies, iTunes, clothing, electronics).

"Speak Up Engage, the new name for the Sunshine Coast Council's Youth Engagement Team, has undertaken numerous projects since they formed in February 2009.

"This survey follows on from the Speak Up Engage Youth Team's projects on entertainment and transport."
