The Queensland Party Celebrates 1st Birthday
New Parties Show Political System is
Vulnerable
Queensland Party Leader, Aidan McLindon, has welcomed the first
birthday of The Queensland Party with enthusiasm saying that the
party's consistent growth over the past 12 months demonstrates
that the ALP and LNP are no longer meeting the needs of
Queenslanders.
“The Queensland Party held its first meeting on Queensland Day
one year ago and in that time it has grown branches from Cairns
to the Gold Coast and endorsed candidates for nearly one third of
Queensland seats. The party is beginning to unveil its shadow
cabinet of spokespeople to offer a real alternative to a
complacent government and incompetent opposition,” said Mr
McLindon.
“Our democracy thrives on the competition of ideas and decent
policy and that is exactly what The Queensland Party brings to
the table.”
“The Queensland Party has consistently released more policy than
the official opposition covering critical areas such as the
prevention of asset sales, a moratorium on the flawed coal seam
gas industry, raising the payroll tax threshold, local health
boards, public transport for seniors, the reinstatement of an
upper house without any extra politicians and real law and order
measures just to list a few."
“It is great to see at the federal level a new party emerging
that has similar goals and aspirations as The Queensland Party
and look forward to working with any other party or individual
prepared to put forward positive policy for Queensland.”
“Bob Katter and I have spoken on a number of occasions over the
past 12 months and I am hopeful that a new political dynamic is
beginning to form. This will provide a credible alternative for
voters who are sick and tired of the way the ALP/LNP have been
taking the people of this great state for granted.”
Mr McLindon added that The Queensland Party would be making
further announcements regarding candidates and spokespeople in
the coming weeks and would be continuing to liaise with other
like-minded parties, organisations and independents to make sure
Queenslanders are properly represented.
