Worm farm workshops kick off next week

A series of free two hour workshops, that will help residents recycle their organic waste at home, kick off on Wednesday 8 September in Beerwah.

The first of 12 workshops will run from 1.30pm -- 3.30pm at the Beerwah Library and there are still places available.

Cr Jones said that there will be a workshop in each division right up until June next year.

"The workshops are a great way to learn how to recycle your organic waste using a worm farm or compost bin," Cr Jones said.

"So much of what we throw away is recyclable, so these workshops help residents learn how to do their bit for climate change, reduce their waste and create a great resource for their gardens.

"It doesn't matter if you are starting from scratch or just want advice, the workshop covers it all, from set up through to troubleshooting.

"Most people have an idea about how organic recycling works, but these sessions help ensure residents get the best out of their system.

"Sessions are small, with only 20 -- 40 spaces available, so there's a real opportunity to ask questions and get individual advice."
