John Chapman, Family First Party Queensland Candidate for Noosa

John Chapman is a married father of four children under 11. He was born in Brisbane and lived there until his early teens. John relocated with his family to Melbourne and completed his high school and university education before moving to Mount Gambier South Australia. John returned to his Queensland roots, settling in Tewantin five years ago where he currently works as a business consultant.

John studied and graduated with a Bachelor in Chemical Engineering with Honours and a Masters in Engineering (Science) from Monash University. He then took on the role as a Technical Sales Representative for a multi-national chemical company in the pulp and paper industry. He then set up his own wealth education company to promote financial literacy, before building a national finance company working with property investors. All of his dedication and hard work has led him to where he is today.

John enjoys taking part in positive community activities and he thoroughly enjoys playing an active role in his children's interests which includes soccer, tennis and scouts. John is passionate about having a positive impact on families by providing the best environment we can for everyone, especially our children, to grow and succeed in life.

John Chapman understands the challenges faced by families in his community and as the Family First representative for the State Electorate of NOOSA, would love the chance to represent his community to help put families first.

1. FAMILIES & PARENTING (healthy lifestyles) FAMILY FIRST recognizes the huge contribution made by parents as the primary carers of their children.
Parenting is a dual role and is at its best when shared by a father and a mother.
FAMILY FIRST would fund and promote preventative programs to include parenting programs such as P.P.P., alcohol & drug abuse programs such as How to Drug Proof Your Kids, and financial training to manage the family budget.

2. LAW & ORDER - JUVENILE CRIME Zero tolerance to petty crime, including juvenile offenders.
Reform sentencing guidelines & automatic jail terms for assaulting police.
Zero blood alcohol limits for ALL drivers under 21.

3. CHILDREN FIRST POLICY FAMILY FIRST calls on the Qld Government to employ substantial numbers of allied health workers, fitness and well-being practitioners to work within the state & private school system.
These specialised programs to be facilitated by guidance officers and school chaplains within the system. This will NOT replace teachers but rather compliment their work.

4. CHILD PROTECTION FAMILY FIRST would Increase funding for both Police and child safety officers. This includes mature aged police and support workers to work with families of children who are sexually abused.
Appoint Special Courts dedicated to improving the Court process for Family Violence and protection of victims. When the home is no longer a safe place, then the first priority for action MUST be the safety of children.
Mandatory ISP level filtering to protect children from risks posed by some sections of the Internet.
Restrict Advertising that promotes the sexualization of children.
All workers involved with schools and education centres MUST hold current Blue Cards.

5. ENVIRONMENT FAMILY FIRST calls for a fair and honest scientific debate about climate change.
Environmental demands must not adversely impact on Qld industry or on our rural sector - unless and until there is a significantly wider consensus in the scientific community about climate change than currently exists.
FAMILY FIRST strongly supports the notion of the family farm. Governments must support the ability to purchase Australian grown and manufactured food products.

6. HEALTH FAMILY FIRST would make public the Reviews into Qld's health system and the recommended changes flowing from those reviews. We need to Reinvigorate Regional hospitals and Develop 'birthing centres' in regional and remote QLD, supported by midwives trained in both anti and post-natal care.

7. AFFORDABLE HOUSING FAMILY FIRST applauds State and Federal initiatives to support first home buyers.
FAMILY FIRST would introduce training on basic home budgeting as a part of the First Homes Buyers package.
FAMILY FIRST recommends tax and interest incentives to young investors to enter into the affordable housing market & increase the supply of affordable rental homes.

8. ACCOUNTABILITY & TRANSPARENCY Immediate reversal of legislative changes that allow MP's to lie without appropriate penalty.
Appointment of an Independent Speaker of the House. Restoration of Queensland's Upper House.

9. GAMBLING FAMILY FIRST will work toward an overall reduction of 25% in gaming licences over a three-year period. Financial incentives for pubs and clubs to exceed this reduction target.
Immediate reduction in operating hours for all gaming machines.
Increase funding to counselling services to deal with gambling addiction.

10. BINGE DRINKING FAMILY FIRST supports the Qld Government Liquor Accords legislation in effect.
FAMILY FIRST would however, further restrict hours of trading & the proliferation & availability of liquor outlets.
Strategic advertising to target the culture of alcohol abuse and violence existing in Qld.
