A short summary of What Lifeline does for the Community of the Sunshine Coast

Lifeline Sunshine Coast opened its doors to the community in 1982. Since its humble beginnings, Lifeline helped to make a difference in over 371,000 people's lives in 2009. Today, we exist to strengthen the lives of individuals, families and communities through wide-ranging services that deliver enhanced access, efficiency and outcomes to people who are most vulnerable.

While we are most well known for our 24-hr Crisis Counselling Line 13 11 14, we have also expanded our services to cover more than just crisis and intervention. Many of our centres provide workshops that focus on issues like anger management, self esteem, communication skills and improving parenting techniques in face to face or group programs and counselling.

If you think that answering a call for help is all we do -- it's time you got to know today's Lifeline Community Care!

The numerous second hand shops Lifeline runs across the Greater Sunshine Coast region, make up the business division of Lifeline. The shops not only provide pre-loved, donated, new and factory second items at an affordable price to the community, but they also provide the financial support which keeps our 24/7 telephone counselling and counselling centres, located in Maroochydore and Gympie, operational. Lifeline shops secure much needed funding so those hurting in our community have access to free, confidential and professional counselling services.

In addition to its services to the community, Lifeline also runs fundraising activities to support those services delivered to the community at no cost. Some of those activities are as follows:

  • Book Fest (April and September)
  • Stress Down Day (July)
  • Doing Dads Proud" (September)
  • Anti Poverty Week (October)
  • Gift Wrapping (December)

If you would like to support or volunteer with Lifeline, we would love to hear from you!
