Sunshine Coast Square Dance Centre
give Modern Square Dancing a go.
Modern Square Dancing provides exercise for both the mind and
body and lets you achieve a better fitness level while the
spontaneity of the calls creates a relaxed and casual atmosphere
with lots of laughs.
Suncoaster Square Dance Club offers you a new and modern version
of square dancing where you start by walking at a relaxed even
pace while enjoying the company of like-minded people in a safe,
convenient location and wearing comfortable every-day clothing
and enjoying contemporary music.
If you want to push yourself, then the higher phases of square
dancing are on offer and will allow you to achieve the level of
challenge you want. There are no set sequences to memorise
-- just a number of different actions which are cued live by our
caller so every dance is different -- people with two left feet
handle it well!
Our centre is located in landscaped gardens at 260 Dixon Road,
Buderim (near the motorway end), and we hold regular workshops
and lesson sessions as well as dances. Mainstream dances
for accomplished dancers are held on the 1st, 3rd and (when they
occur) 5th Saturdays of the month. Come along around 7.30pm
and see us in action.
Dance fees are currently $6, but spectators are free -- you'll be
surprised at how much fun you can have, and how easy it would be
for you to join us. There's plenty of parking, and a bus
stop right outside.
We hold Plus dances on Monday nights, and levels A1 and A2 on Sunday afternoons.
Square dancing lets you make new friends as you travel.
Throughout the world square dancing is called in English, so
achieving a basic level of skill means you can easily find
friends and activities to add to your level of enjoyment wherever
you travel within Australia or overseas.
And if square dancing is not for you, think about Round
Dancing. It's ballroom dancing called live by our cuer, Bev
McLachlan. Once again, just like square dancing, anybody
can do it - you just learn the steps and react. We hold
learning sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Bev,
telephone 5445 1238 can provide more information. And then
there's clogging -- no wooden shoes, thank you. Again, Bev
is your contact.
