The Canine Classroom & Canine Master Groomers

D&L Canine Services is the combination of two great businesses, The Canine Classroom & Canine Master Groomers. Owned and operated by David Haywood and Lisa Stewart, their aim is to provide a service to dog owners that will enhance your relationship with your family pet. Both David & Lisa have been involved in the pet dog industry for over 10 years each including; training, boarding, breeding and grooming.

D&L Canine Services is a proud member of PIAA (Pet Industry Association Australia) the regulatory body for the pet industry and operates under its strict code of conduct.

Prior to relocating to the Sunshine Coast in 2009, David previously managed Australia’s largest pet dog training club for 5 years (has been involved in training professionally since 1999) and one of Victoria’s largest boarding facilities for 3 years. David is the Queensland delegate for the National Dog Trainers Federation (NDTF), Australia’s leading representative body for dog trainers. The NDTF offers a nationally recognised qualification for dog trainers and David is one of the senior trainers on their course. He holds a qualification through the NDTF in ‘Dog Behaviour & Training’, as a ‘Canine Behaviour Specialist’ and ‘Canine Scent Detection Handler & Trainer’. He also holds a TAA Certificate IV. David has personally conducted temperament assessments on over 5000 dogs for their suitability for training and tailored training solutions to match.

Lisa is one of only 21 Internationally Certified Master Groomers (CMG) in Australia. She has travelled extensively throughout America learning from some of the best Groomers in the World. Her accreditation through IPG is recognised by PIAA as the highest level attainable by any groomer in Australia at this point in time. Lisa previously worked for 7 years at a salon in Brisbane alongside another CMG where they could proudly boast they were the only salon in Australia to have two CMG’s working in the one salon. Lisa has also had extensive experience in breeding West Highland Terriers and Poodles over many years.

The Canine Classroom

Has been established to offer dog owners a truly professional pet dog training solution to meet the needs of your lifestyle. We offer a NO obligation FREE first session that you can attend to learn more about what we do. This session includes your first training lesson as well as a one to one temperament assessment of your dog. We will tailor a training solution that will assist in training ‘your dog to your requirements’. This session runs weekly however bookings are essential so call or email us to receive your information pack.

Options include:

Group dog training sessions - where you can come along and enjoy the activities including obedience, socialisation & confidence development or behaviour problem solving. We offer classes for puppies from 8 weeks of age as well as Basic through to Advanced obedience. We offer a ‘Lifetime Training Guarantee’ and we do not put any set time limits on our classes.

Most importantly our training focuses on ‘Socialisation & Confidence’ development. We are not an obedience trialling club therefore we focus on everyday scenarios to develop a true ‘lifestyle’ dog that you can be confident in. The most important time for your dog is during the ‘Critical period for Socialisation’ which begins at 3 weeks and finishes at 14 weeks. Our puppy classes are designed to maximise this limited window of opportunity.

Private Lessons – in the privacy of your own home or at your local park, we can come to you and work on specific issues you are dealing with.

Boarding School for Dogs – is ideal if you are going on a holiday and need your dog cared for and like the idea of getting them trained while you’re away Or maybe you have an over excitable, boisterous or demanding dog that you’re struggling to deal with. By sending your dog off to Boarding school you allow us to do all the handwork for you! This option includes Free Lifetime Membership allowing you to come down to group sessions and maintain the work we’ve done.

Canine Master Groomers

Is a boutique grooming salon that caters for small to medium dogs specialising in breed trims and clip offs. We can also help larger heavy coated breeds with a shedless and clips. The salon is set up at home and is very private and discreet.

You choose from a simple ‘Bath & Blow Dry’ to keep your dog fresh and clean or from ‘Maintenance’ or ‘Full’ grooms where we give your dog a full makeover. Most importantly you have piece of mind that your groomer is a certified ‘Master Groomer’ accredited by IPG & PIAA.

We offer a pick up and delivery service if required or you could make a trip of it. If you’re not local to Peregian and Coolum why not come up and enjoy the wonderful surrounds of this region including; Peregian, Coolum and Noosa, for a few hours while your dog is being groomed.
