A family on the Verge (La Bellezza del Somaro)
Director: Sergio Castellitto,
Cast: Laura Morante, Sergio Castellitto, Marco Giallini, Barbora Bobulova.
Sergio Castellitto and Laura Morante star as Marcello, an architect, and Marina, a psychologist who are preparing to meet their daughter's new boyfriend in this hilarious update of the classic film, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.
The couple's relaxing weekend in the country is thrown into chaos when their spoiled and rebellious daughter arrives with her new love. Soon hoards of their friends begin to descend on the holiday house and the weekend deteriorates into utter madness. Marcello and Marina are forced to confront their prejudices and long held beliefs about parenting and their armchair approach to non-conformity.
Castellitto and Morante are in superb comic form as the parents who discover they still have much to learn. Castellitto also directs this perceptive and delightful comedy about the generation gap between parents who don't want to grow old – and children who are desperate to grow up!
