Sunshine Coast Council proudly presents award-winning playwright, David Burton’s April’s Fool, a true story of love, tragedy and strength with two performances at the Nambour Civic Centre on Thursday 19 April 2012.

April’s Fool tells the true story of Toowoomba teenager Kristjan Terauds who died two weeks short of his nineteenth birthday in April 2009 due to complications from illicit drug use. 

Inspired by April’s Fool, an account of his son’s death by Kristjan’s father, the Empire Theatre commissioned David Burton to bring this inspiring story to the stage.

Using the words of Kristjan’s friends and family interviewed over many months the result is a powerful mix of sadness, loss and ultimately love laced with humour.  The result is a theatre experience that reflects Kristjan himself – loving, warm, generous, gentle and complex.

Young people, parents, teachers, youth workers and theatre critics have praised April’s Fool for its ability to engage them in this story, gently sharing with its audience and at no time seeking to lecture or preach.
