BLUES BACK AT COOLUM

Get in the groove when Artsun’s Blues Rent Party returns to the Coolum Civic Centre on Saturday 13th June.  The popular Blues event has become an annual celebration on the Coolum social calendar giving a taste of the talent to perform at the Sunshine Coast Blues Festival in September.

This years line up includes Queensland Blues Band 2008 “Blind Lemon”, Popular Coolum locals “Triple Shot”, Brisbane bands Mamma Voodoo and Jimi Beavis & the 385s.

Gold Coast outfit Blind Lemon’ exhilarating blend of 50s rockabilly, boogie & blues led to their selection as Queenslands Blues Performers of the year in 2008 and they have delighted audiences with their highly charged performances.  Jamie Symons’ Harmonica duels with Chris Harvey on Guitar, with a solid backing from Cvitan Barac on Drums and Dave Griffiths Bass.

Sunshine Coast locals Triple Shot bring their exciting blend of Jump Blues and West Coast Swing mixed with authentic Chigago blues and delivered with passion and aplomb.

Mamma Voodoo are a new name in the Brisbane Blues scene but feature familiar faces with Anne O’Reilly’s vocals ably supported by Chris Harvey’s Guitar and Jules Victor on Drums and Grant Watson on Bass.  

Young Brisbane Blues Band Jimi Beavis & The 385s are rapidly gaining a reputation for their enthusiasm and authentic Blues performances.  Leaders of the next generation of Blues Performers Jimi and his band continue the tradition of emotion, rhythm and drive that has made the blues so popular.
