Balcony, Container & Small Gardens workshop
Want to grow your own veggies but have no backyard? Learn how to turn
your balcony, courtyard or small space into a mini-food garden with
Anne Gibson at Veggie Village, 9-11am Sunday October 17th.
Veggie Village promotes sustainability and community participation
through growing organic fruit and vegetables at Di Hirst Oval, Rufous
St, Peregian Beach. Workshops are $15.
Anne said "don't let a small space prevent you from growing some of your
own food -- with a little inspiration and a few clever ideas you can
start growing a pick and pluck salad garden in just one pot." Even
renters can grow a portable garden or use a windowsill that gets a fair
amount of sunshine each day to grow a culinary herb garden.
"It's incredibly satisfying to just step outside your kitchen and pick
stir fry greens or fresh tasty herbs and a great way for children to
start growing in their own pot. Small spaces mean less time spent on
maintenance but can be very productive. With some simple design knowhow
and problem-solving tips, you can have abundant mini edible gardens year
round," Anne said. "Well designed micro gardens can also be spaces of
beauty, fragrance and improve indoor air quality in your home."
Anne's workshop will cover design, selection of suitable plants and
containers, special needs of small space gardens and practical hands-on
'how to' tips.
