'Being in Heaven' national launch

Dates: Thursday 12th November 2009 to Tuesday 17th November 2009
Location: Nambour Cinema, Nambour

Nambour Plays Host to National Film Launch

The thriving Sunshine Coast city of Nambour has been selected as the location for the national launch of the new Australian film, Being in Heaven.

The film will be screened, in limited session times, from Thursday 12th -- Tuesday 17th November at Nambour's Civic Centre Cinema, in Centenary Square.

"We chose to launch the film in Nambour because this is a fantastic city, full of passionate and creative people who are open minded about life, and think outside the square," said writer, producer and director of Being in Heaven, Michael Domeyko Rowland. "It was the natural choice."

Being in Heaven is a film that challenges its audience to consider what they believe to be true about life. Film-maker Domeyko Rowland is best known in Nambour - and throughout the globe - as Australia's leading expert on self-development, and is the author of the best selling book Absolute Happiness. His 90-minute feature film illuminates his popular ideas about life and happiness in an entertaining and engaging cinematic experience.

The film follows the journey of Jason Masterman (Daniel Whyte), a young man whose identity is wrapped up in material wealth and professional triumph. With the onset of the global financial crisis, Jason must suddenly reassess what his life is about once the trappings of success are stripped away.

"The global downturn has meant that there are millions of people just like Jason who are now having to take stock of their lives," says Domeyko Rowland. "Success, defined in the modern era as the acquisition of material wealth and career achievement, is frequently accompanied by an impoverished internal life -- as is the case with Jason. I'm hoping that the film will be a catalyst to drive change in the way people view success and happiness."

While this is Domeyko Rowland's first feature film, his early career was spent in the film and television industry. He worked on a number of projects, including Spyforce with Jack Thompson, Age of Consent with James Mason and Helen Mirren, and the recently re-released Australian feature film Wake in Fright. He also directed several episodes of the worldwide smash hit series Return to Eden.

Nambour has always been a popular destination for Domeyko Rowland who, over the last two decades, has regularly conducted his seminars and events in the city to sell-out crowds. At the core of Domeyko Rowland's teaching is that happiness can be achieved when life is lived consciously, with awareness and direction, and not in the dream-like state so common to modern society, where life just "happens" to you.

Being in Heaven was met with rave reviews from audiences at its test screening in Byron Bay on September 27th. One delighted cinema-goer called it "A wonderful film about how life is, and how it could be."

Following the launch in Nambour, Being in Heaven will be screened in limited release across Australia.
