Craft at the Nambour Moonlight Markets

Date: Saturday 5th December 2009
Location: Forecourt of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council, Nambour

Wives and Partners of Veterans come to the aid of Hospice

On a social outing about 12 months ago, a number of the Nambour RSL Sub-branch ladies got together to look at how they might do something for the community. After much discussion, they decided to help the Sunshine Coast Community Hospice, and a craft stall at the Nambour Moonlight Markets was chosen as the way to raise funds, given that most of the ladies are keen "crafters".

A survey was done and it was discovered that around 20 of the sub-branch ladies and some of their friends indulge in different craft activities. Some make cards, others bags, rugs, paintings, jewellery, scarves, beadwork, table runners and much more. The ladies have been busy in the last 6 months getting their items together and will be holding a stall to aid the hospice at the Moonlight Markets on Friday 30 October and Saturday 5 December.

The Nambour RSL Sub-branch President, Mr Ray Stuart, was pleased to get the sub-branch behind this venture and has dedicated funds to help with costs involved. He said it is a great way for the Sub-branch to support this great cause.

In conjunction with the craft stall, the ladies are also holding a raffle of a wheel barrow full of items generously donated by various Nambour and Sunshine Coast businesses, with a value in excess of $1000.
