Hazard reduction burn
Council together with Queensland Fire and Rescue will conduct a fuel
hazard reduction burn this afternoon as part of its proactive fire
management program.
The burn will take place (weather permitting) at 2pm in council managed reserve on Ferny Glen Road at Mons.
Winds are expected to be from East South-East, which will reduce smoke hazard to both Ferny Glen Road and Sawreys Road.
Queensland Fire and Rescue will issue council with a 'permit to light fire' for the burn.
Nearby residents have been informed, via letterbox drop that council intends to conduct the prescribed burn.
The purpose is to reduce the available fuel in the event of a wildfire,
making it easier for emergency services to fight any fires and protect
property.
Resources available at the time of the burn
* Incident controller - Conor Jenkins (SCRC), Archie Andrews(QFRS)
* 4 x 4x4 council firefighting units
* 2 x urban Fire and Rescue trucks
