National Street Party

Dates: Saturday 28th November 2009 to Sunday 29th November 2009
Location: Australia Wide, Sunshine Coast Wide

In an effort to help overcome isolation and loneliness in local communities and draw attention to the issue of social fragmentation, Dr Jonathon Welch AM, founding musical director of the Choir of Hard Knocks, has created Social Inclusion Week (23 - 29 November).

To support the Australia's first Social Inclusion Week, community groups across the country will host events to raise awareness of and educate the wider community about, the benefits of feeling connected and cared for.

Social Inclusion Week will culminate in a celebratory event called the National Street Party from 28 - 29 November, a weekend where Australians are encouraged to reconnect with friends, families and neighbours by hosting events such as BBQ's, picnics, cricket matches and charity walks.
