'OP SHOP COOPERATION'  for Community Fundraiser

On Saturday 17th April, models wearing stunning outfits from the Pomona Red Cross Op Shop, Pomona Lifeline and Options 4 U will strut their stuff on the 'catwalk' at the Pomona Memorial Hall in order to raise money for the Pomona & District Community House.

In a fine example of the community spirit of the hinterland township, the three op shops are working together to put on the, now annual, "Op Shop Bop" fundraiser. "We know how important the services and programs are that the Community House offers locals" says Jo Mitchell, co-manager of the Lifeline in Pomona. Jo herself came to Pomona only a couple of years ago and began volunteering at the Community House where she says, "I saw first-hand how many people use the services. There is still so much more that the Community House wants to do yet finding the funds is always the hard part. Anything we do to help will come back to community so we are only too glad to be part of this event." Local businesses are also getting behind the event with donations of gifts and raffles.

Host, 'Bubbly BJ England', currently working at the Community House through the 'Green Army' job placement scheme, and who has managed many events says, "It's going to be a great morning, loads of fun, entertainment, a delicious home baked morning tea that will fill you up for the whole day and a chance to win any number of prizes and raffles! Come along in your own op shop bargains and be in with a chance to win 'Best-dressed op shopper'.

One special outfit from each op shop will be auctioned off on the day and the others will be for sale at the end of the morning. In addition every ticket offers a 10% discount at one of the three contributing op shops. Though not for sale, a special display of 'Wedding Dresses through the Ages' will round off this delightful morning.
