RADF showcase exhibition
Best of the best Coast artists at Cooroy
The Coast's finest artists will perform, present and network their
talents in a showcase event at Cooroy's Butter Factory Arts Centre on 2
July at 6pm, with doors opening at 5:30pm.
Hosted by Sunshine Coast Regional Council, the 2009 Regional Arts
Development Fund Showcase event will celebrate the best of the best in
RADF projects from across the region in 2007/08.
Items chosen demonstrate both great artistic merit and community
benefits, according to RADF Committee Chairman, Cr Jenny McKay, who
will open the evening and is delighted to support the Coast's talent.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for artists from across the region to
meet and network, and a terrific way to discover new opportunities and
foster partnerships," she said.
"The program for 2 July will reflect the diversity of RADF funded
activities across the region, and demonstrates the community benefits
as well as the professional arts practice development the RADF program
brings to our region."
The program will include presenters of successful applications and
performances including singer/songwriter Ange Takats, Linsey Polak and
his cycologists and more. The evening will be hosted by well-known
slam-dunk poet 'Ghostboy'.
Mayor Bob Abbot will be presenting cheques to successful applicants
from the current round of funding and the evening will conclude with
Vista Club program manager Jalberto Maldonado and the Big Bara Boom
Beating System.
RADF is a funding partnership between Arts Queensland and the Sunshine
Coast Regional Council supporting the professional development and
employment of arts and cultural workers in regional Queensland.
This RADF showcase exhibition is free of charge and will run until
21 July with displays of a range of art work and project documentation
from RADF funded activities and artists.
Sunshine Coast artists and those involved in the arts industry are all
invited to attend. Bookings for this showcase are essential.
