the festival home in grand style (save some energy people!). We always
try to include something for everyone and we have all the bases covered
with Roots, Rock, Pop, HipHop, Electro and DJ's spreading the noise

is racing back to the sunshine coast with more anticipation than ever!

the choruses of your favourite bands, then groove on into the night to
the sounds of RIPE.
In line with this years vibe to go bigger and better, there will also be
large upgrades in sound ,lighting, and staging from last years festival
.We love this stuff and hope to deliver you all an awesome sound &
light experience. We're particularly excited with the upgrade to The
Harvest Dance Stage, which will now host live Hip Hop and Electronic
acts, along with the countries best DJ's -- it was party central last
year and will rip even harder this year.
This year RIPE will be host to a plethora of festival vibrance with
various market stalls, an international food bizarre, a sideshow ally of
games and rides, artwork installations throughout the event site, and
roving performers. If all the moving and grooving is getting a bit much
for you come and join us at the outdoor cinema! Set up on site, check
out more details below!x Most importantly this year we will be launching
our RIPE fancy dress competition!
2009 was the first year for RIPE and the event was a resounding success.
With rock, pop, dance, and alternative music spread across two stages
RIPE was blossoming with choices. This year we are adding a third stage
to engage more local artists of the Sunshine Coast who have been deemed
RIPE for the picking!
Ripen Up
Last year we ran a RIPEN UP dress up competition backstage. You might
have seen some of our fruity friends wandering the fields...
This year we want you all to join us as we amp up the competition! RIPE
Noosa will be transformed into a market feast of colour as we invite
everyone to participate in our super-massive dress-up comp. Prizes are
outrageously good, including free VIP tickets to next years RIPE
festival, on the spot backstage drags to meet artists, and a post event
photo competition. More info will follow on the details but start
planning now!
LINE UP DETAILS:
The Cat Empire
"An Australian singing in French about an American state with a Jamaican
rhythm track."
The Cat Empire's co-lead singer Harry Angus is speaking specifically
about the band's version of Hotel California, which was recorded in
Montreal in 2006 and can be found on the forthcoming CD 'Live On Earth',
but it does a more than reasonable job of explaining their far and wide
influences. This is a band which has been able to harness disparate
musical elements, making them like no other band on the planet. The most
impressive part is that they can combine every sound they can think up,
and still deliver an upbeat, festive atmosphere each time they hit the
stage...
Grinspoon
It took a musical adventure spanning four continents for Grinspoon to
find the key to shaking up the Australian rock scene. Firstly, bassist
Joe Hansen made his way to Canada and set himself on a path to brutal
speed metal utopia. Guitarist Pat Davern ventured to Amsterdam and Spain
in search of some elusive monstrous riffs. Frontman Phil Jamieson found
his calling in Singapore, collaborating with a friend on glorious dream
pop tunes. Meanwhile, drummer Kristian Hopes found a world of
inspiration at home in Brisbane with his new baby son.
Their epic quest to find rock's holy grail eventually led them home to
make the best album of their 14-year career, cementing their position at
the helm of the local rock scene...
Birds of Tokyo
It's no secret that the landscape of Birds Of Tokyo's home of Western
Australia; a desert-like state so vast and unforgiving that to provide
it with a soundtrack requires a higher level of grandeur and majesty one
would ever dare associate with the 'pop' music tag.
But, down to its bones, pop music is what Birds of Tokyo write... they
just layer those bones in muscle, and give the beast a heart...
British India
BRITISH INDIA are gearing up for a big year. The four-piece are
currently in the studio putting the finishing touches to their much
anticipated third album Avalanche, due for release in April 2010.
British India will release 'Beneath The Satellites', the official first
single from the new album, on Friday 12th February exclusively through
iTunes...
Urthboy
Urthboy is a hip hop artist from Australia.
His first group, Explanetary, a short-lived project featuring members of
Hermitude and school friends, folded after one EP In On The Deal
(2001).
Urthboy's first solo album Distant Sense of Random Menace was released
in 2004 ("Aussie Hip Hop needs this album" The Brag) and featured
singles No Rider and Come Around. But it was 2007's The Signal that
kicked things up a notch...
The Funkoars
On the back of the phenomenal success of The Funkoars and Ash Grunwald
collaboration on the track 'Little Did I Know' - February 2010 sees them
pull a stellar Double Header show together when they join forces for a
special run of dates in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
With a history running almost 10 years, four albums under their belt, as
well as far too many guest appearances and production credits to list,
The Funkoars are veterans of the Australian hip-hop scene...
Cassette Kids
Cassette Kids have been busy. Since the frenetic and aggressively
energetic debut We Are was released in 2008, the band have spent a year
riding their self-created turbulence. This is a band who has endured
countless hours working on their craft in an insatiable drive to create
different and exciting music, and have earned their stripes on tour with
some of the biggest acts in the business. Now ready to take on the
world, the Kids step up to deliver their coming-of-age full length album
Nothing On TV.
With typically indie rock influences that include The Rapture, Klaxons,
Yeah Yeah Yeahs and No Doubt, Cassette Kids craft a grinding, colourful
version of the genre which is as catchy as it is innovative. The
quartet, which features singer Katrina Noorbergen, guitarist Dan
Schober, bassist Dan Deitz and drummer Jake Read-Harber, came together
from four distinct corners of the indie scene...
Infusion
Sometimes hype is redundant. Who needs to bend the truth when your
managers phone is ringing night and day from people wanting to book you,
sign you and get you to remix them? Like the Crystal Method were to the
USA and The Chemical Brothers to the UK, Australian trio Infusion set
the bench mark for what was to come...
Kid Kenobi & Shureshock
Kid Kenobi
Countless accolades, awards, records, and firsts have been the hallmark
of Kid Kenobi's illustrious 13-year DJing career. Indeed it's an
impossible task trying to resist running them off...
MC Shureshock
Shoulder to shoulder as the crowd beams bugged-eyed smiles through
strobe flashes. Your legs wobble unsteadily from so much dancing but
through the smoke-filled darkness a voice brings you back....
Goodwill
"A great DJ with a perfect feeling for when to play the right tunes"
AXWELL
"Some people say Will.I.am, i say Will.is.Great. He's the king of
southern hemisphere" DIRTY SOUTH
"Ive never seen such an incredible multitalented, djing, singing, gogo
dancer. Its the perfect combination and I love him" TOM NOVY...
Washington
Appearing on stage with a number of very different artists, from The
Bamboos, Ben Lee, Camille, Tim Finn, and Old Man River to random
collaborations with the likes of Woody Allen's New Orleans Jazz Band,
Washington crosses a number of styles, from country and folk to more
complex song structures reminiscent of Kate Bush. Her influences range
from Paul Simon to Billie Holiday; Leonard Cohen to Radiohead...
Bridzilla
Formed in 2005 during the dizzy days of high school, Bridezilla began as
a group of teenage girls -- Holiday Carmen-Sparks (vocals, guitar),
Daisy Tulley (violin), Pia May Courtley (guitar), and Millie Hall
(saxophone) -- battling boredom with strings, horns, and a storm of
emotion. Then along came a boy who put beats in their blood -- Josh Bush
(drums) -- and suddenly the puzzle was complete. Somehow, it worked...
