Sleeping Beauty

Dates: Thursday 21st January 2010 to Saturday 23rd January 2010
Location: the J, Noosa Junction

It’s Pantomime Time Again

After last years’ overwhelming success of ‘Jack and The Beanstalk’, director Jennifer Rousset has put together another great cast for Sleeping Beauty, which will once again thrill audiences with all the fun that a good pantomime brings.
Singing, dancing and audiences participation are all part of a traditional English panto and Sleeping Beauty is no exception.

It follows the story of how for 18 years Beauty, (played by local Alex Lawson) is kept safe from The Black Fairy’s curse with help from her loving Nanny (played by the vivacious Peter Reynolds).
Until one awful day she pricks her finger on an evil spinning wheel. Rather than die, which would be just too sad, Beauty falls asleep for 100 years and the only thing that can wake her is a kiss from a handsome prince, in this case local Peter Lynch.
Like all traditional pantomimes it is great fun for all the family and has music, dance, movement and comedy in it.

Audiences are encouraged to get behind ‘the goodie’ and boo loudly when ‘the baddie’ appears on stage.
Local musician and designer Kitten plays the evil Black Fairy.

Jennifer says: “Kitten is loving every minute of this meaty role and in my reworked panto rendition of the classic song, ‘Fever’ she also gets to use her wonderful voice.” Kitten’s counterpart the good, Lilac Fairy is played by Genine Howard, publisher of Profile.
Of course, as all pantos go, a happy ending is in store.
Come along. And see the magic unfold
